Shaquille O’Neal and JJ Redick were both on a recent episode of O’Neal’s podcast, “The Big Podcast” where they talked about the NBA’s Mount Rushmore of a**holes they’ve both encountered during their time as active players in the NBA. Both ex-players were so expressive with their opinions that it has now led to a host of conversations on social media.
Big Shaq’s list included many legendary with whom he had lots of battles during his glorious career in the league. The list included Hall of Famer Gary Payton, Kevin Garnett, Alonzo Mourning, and Antoine Walker.
Gary Payton was an a**hole. I've seen that man talk to all my guards about their mamas, about their wives, about their kids. Kevin Garnett seeing him do the same thing. Alonzo Mourning was an a**hole because he always tried to be mean.Shaquille O’Neal said
However, for JJ Redick he caused a bit of a shock when he included two former teammates, Kevin Garnett and Hedo Turkoglu. The others on his list included Rasheed Wallace and TJ McConnell.
Furthermore, the names mentioned and the reason why they were mentioned only give reason to how competitive the NBA was and still is. Players would do anything to have a competitive edge over their opponents even if it means getting on their bad side.
Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most famous players ever to grace the NBA and despite his dominant presence and scoring abilities, it’s quite remarkable that he never attempted many 3-point shots. However, during a recent episode of his podcast, he said he would love to possess the skills of JJ Redick who before Steph Curry was a dangerous beyond-the-arc shooter.
Shaq further stated that if he had that ability he would announce himself as the “Black Steph Curry,” who we all know for revolutionizing the game of basketball.
Before the game, I would announce myself as the Black Stephen Curry. And I would tell the world I'm hittin' 10 3s tonight. Of course, all of you ***** would be like, 'No you won't.’ Bro, I wish I was shooting like you (JJ) and Steph, like those guys.Shaquille O’Neal added
Furthermore, it was a bit of a shock hearing that coming from O’Neal as he considered himself the most dominant center in the league. It only shows how he has come to realize the effects of having a three-point shooting acumen as a skill set.
