FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WZTV) — Franklin Mayoral Candidate Gabrielle Hanson sparked new criticism at Tuesday's Board of Alderman meeting.
During the meeting, some of her colleagues took issue with a recent mayoral forum where a group of those identifying themselves as neo-Nazis attended on behalf of Hanson.
Now, Alderman Matt Brown has asked the board to reconsider a censure for Hanson at their next meeting on Nov. 14.
Hanson has previously denied any connection to the controversial group who attended the forum.
"It's easy to shift all the blame, I just happened to arrive at a time where everything was starting to crumble," Hanson said. "And that’s where we are today, community built on massive PR machine."
Hanson says the group has the right to support her.
"If they want to support you and your reelection, if they want to support me that is their right," Hanson said. "We don’t discriminate in this community against anyone. Never did they lay a hand on anyone and they were very respectful while they were here. Just because someone looks different does not mean you discriminate against that individual, thank you." Hanson said.
