The Caldwell Walmart located at 622 E Ustick is presenting a $1,000 check to the Caldwell Fire Department.
The money will help purchase smoke detectors as part of Caldwell Fire Department's smoke detector program.
The program provides awareness, education, and assistance to people in Caldwell that do not have the means to obtain these life-saving devices.
The engine companies also carry the devices to use as replacements after a fire.
Almost three out of every five home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms.
In fires in which the smoke alarms were present but did not operate, two out of every five of the smoke alarms had missing or disconnected batteries.
